OTOJATIM – GAC Indonesia has shared the development story behind the AION V, revealing that the electric SUV was created through a Listening First philosophy that places customer feedback at the center of every design decision. The concept was introduced during the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026.
"For us, listening is the starting point of every great design. We don't begin by asking what features can be added. Instead, we look at how people live, travel, and what they truly need from a vehicle," said Sean Xiong, Product Director of AION V.
"That philosophy shapes every aspect of the AION V, from its design and cabin experience to its technology and safety," he added.
According to GAC, extensive customer research identified three priorities that have the greatest impact on the driving experience: quality, technology, and safety. These findings became the foundation for the AION V's development, helping the company create an electric SUV that meets the expectations of modern drivers in global markets, including Indonesia.
The AION V adopts GAC's T-REX Design Language, inspired by the Tyrannosaurus Rex to represent power, growth, and adventure. Its exterior was developed through collaboration between GAC's global design studios in Los Angeles, Milan, and Shanghai, combining international design perspectives with practical everyday usability.
Inside, the SUV features the Urban Zero-Pressure Suspension Cabin concept, offering a spacious interior, flexible seating configuration, premium materials, and practical storage solutions. The vehicle's interface is also designed to be intuitive, allowing drivers to access features more easily while reducing distractions on the road.
Safety was integrated into the vehicle from the earliest stages of development. GAC equipped the AION V with a high-strength body structure, battery protection, optimized driver ergonomics, improved visibility, and a combination of active and passive safety systems. The result is a 5-Star ANCAP and 5-Star Euro NCAP safety rating, reflecting the model's global safety standards.
During GIIAS 2026, GAC Indonesia also introduced special promotional pricing for the AION V. The AION V Exclusive is offered at Rp459 million, down from its regular price of Rp499 million, while the AION V Luxury is available for Rp480 million, reduced from Rp560 million. Buyers also receive a wall charger, a dashcam, and an opportunity to join the GAC CUAN FEST lucky draw featuring prizes such as gold, an iPhone 17, and other exclusive rewards.
