Hino Connect Adds Early Fault Detection Feature to Help Fleets Avoid Unexpected Downtime

OTOJATIM - Fleet downtime remains one of the biggest challenges for transport and logistics operators. A truck that suddenly stops working can disrupt delivery schedules, increase repair costs, and reduce overall productivity. To help fleet owners respond faster, PT Hino Motors Sales Indonesia (HMSI) has introduced a new feature in Hino Connect that detects potential vehicle problems before they become major failures.
Hino Connect's new Diagnostic Trouble Code feature sends real-time alerts when potential vehicle faults are detected.
"We understand that every fleet plays an important role in supporting our customers' business operations. Through the DTC feature in Hino Connect, customers can identify potential vehicle problems earlier so that corrective action can be taken as soon as possible. This innovation is designed to help maintain fleet productivity and minimize downtime that could affect business operations," said Tomoki Hattori, Marketing Director of HMSI.

The new Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) or Failure Notification feature was officially introduced during GIIAS 2026. It expands the capabilities of Hino Connect, the company's telematics platform that already allows customers to monitor fleet operations in real time.

The DTC system uses sensors and the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) installed in Hino Euro 4 vehicles to detect abnormalities within the vehicle. Once a problem is identified, the system automatically sends notifications through the Hino Connect web application and the customer's email within a maximum of five minutes after the issue is detected.

The notification provides more than just an error code. Customers also receive information about the severity of the issue, the vehicle's fault status, dashboard warning indicators, and recommended initial actions. This allows fleet operators to arrange inspections or repairs before the problem develops into a more serious mechanical failure that could interrupt daily operations.

Hino Connect already offers a wide range of fleet management functions, including vehicle location tracking, trip history, fuel consumption monitoring, Vehicle Score Card for evaluating driving behavior, maintenance reminders, and Geofence monitoring to track vehicles entering or leaving designated operational areas. The addition of DTC further strengthens the platform by providing early maintenance alerts for connected vehicles.

HMSI has also introduced an Online Payment feature, enabling customers to purchase or renew Hino Connect service packages through a single digital platform, making subscription management faster and more convenient.

"With these latest features, customers can manage their fleets with greater confidence. From identifying potential vehicle problems at an early stage to simplifying service package purchases, these improvements are designed to help customers maintain productive business operations," Hattori added.

Visitors attending GIIAS 2026 can experience a live demonstration of the new Diagnostic Trouble Code feature at the Hino Digital Corner in Hall 1, Booth 1E, where the system showcases how real-time fault notifications are generated when abnormalities are detected.
