Tekiro Makes History as Indonesia Earns Guinness World Record at GIIAS 2026

OTOJATIM - Indonesia's automotive industry celebrated a landmark achievement as Tekiro officially received a Guinness World Records certificate for organizing The Largest Automotive Mechanic Competition. The recognition was presented during the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on Saturday (August 1).
Tekiro receives the Guinness World Records certificate during GIIAS 2026 after hosting the world's largest automotive mechanic competition involving more than 89,000 vocational students.
"This world record achievement is the result of Tekiro's long-standing dedication to supporting Indonesia's automotive ecosystem. Through this mechanic competition, the company aims to measure participants' technical competencies in handling modern automotive challenges according to internationally recognized standards," said Oscar Sutjiadi, President Director of PT Altama Surya Anugerah.

The Guinness World Records certificate was awarded directly to Oscar Sutjiadi in recognition of the extraordinary scale of Tekiro Mechanic Competition 2026. This year's competition involved more than 89,000 vocational automotive students from 544 vocational high schools (SMKs) across Indonesia, making it the largest automotive mechanic competition ever recorded.

Since the competition was first launched in 2022, more than 252,000 students have participated in the annual program. The event has grown into one of Indonesia's largest vocational automotive competitions, providing students with opportunities to sharpen their technical skills before entering the professional workforce.

"For PT Altama Surya Anugerah, this certificate is a symbol of our commitment to building a more competent and competitive automotive workforce for Indonesia," Oscar added.

The achievement was officially validated by Tomomi Sekioka, Official Adjudicator of Guinness World Records, after a comprehensive review of all evidence submitted by the organizers.

"We are delighted to confirm that Tekiro Mechanic Competition 2026 has successfully achieved the Guinness World Records title for The Largest Automotive Mechanic Competition. This remarkable accomplishment brought together vocational high school students from across Indonesia. Following a thorough review of the evidence submitted under Guinness World Records guidelines, we confirm that the attempt has met all the requirements for this record category. Congratulations to Tekiro and everyone involved in this outstanding achievement," said Tomomi Sekioka.

The 2026 competition began with roadshows to vocational schools across the country before moving to online qualifying rounds. The semifinal and final stages were held in Jakarta on April 25-26, where contestants completed practical examinations covering electrical systems, engine diagnostics, transmission systems, and modern vehicle technologies.

Winners received cash prizes worth hundreds of millions of rupiah in total, trophies, certificates, and professional workshop equipment for their schools. Outstanding participants were also offered career opportunities at international workshops and special pathways to continue their higher education.

The Guinness World Records recognition marks an important milestone for Indonesia's vocational automotive education, highlighting the country's growing ability to develop skilled technicians through large-scale national competitions.
