Macau, Otojatim.com - The Asian motorsport fraternity was given its first glimpse of the next generation Audi RS 3 LMS, as the leading touring car teams from across China gathered ahead of this weekend’s Macau Grand Prix.
The new Audi RS 3 LMS was unveiled at Macau’s Fisherman’s Wharf, just metres from the famous Guia street circuit itself. Among the guests were many of the drivers and teams entered in the Macau Guia Race touring car headliner as well as in the Macau Challenge Cup at the upcoming Macau Grand Prix.
“The Audi RS 3 LMS has been a hugely popular model in Asia and, through talking to our customers and teams, it’s clear that interest in the second generation is very high indeed,” said Alexander Blackie, Manager of Audi Sport customer racing Asia.
“The Macau Grand Prix, the pinnacle of the Asian TCR season, is the ideal place to introduce this exciting new model to our customers.” The Audi RS 3 LMS is the most-produced race car by Audi Sport customer racing within a single model generation, with 180 units sold between 2016 and 2021, and the car has claimed more than 300 race victories and 55 championship titles.
As standard, the brand supplies the new Audi RS 3 LMS in Daytona gray with the distinctive Audi Sport signature colour pattern. The cockpit is designed to be even more ergonomic than that of its predecessor.
All important elements are grouped in a steering wheel control panel and a keypad to the right of the set. In terms of safety, Audi Sport once again exceeds regulatory standards in the competitive arena: the brand’s own Protection Seat with six-point fixation, a roof hatch to facilitate recovery and an adjustable pedal box. The Audi RS 3 LMS has gained enormous popularity in Asia since its launch.
The next generation model is expected to become the optimal choice for teams contesting championships such as the TCR Asia and China series and the China Endurance Championship GT Cup TCE class, won this year by the 326 Racing Audi RS 3 LMS.(*)
